UPPERVILLE, Va., June 11, 2023– Ireland’s Jordan Coyle and Elan Farm’s Lisaniska Cool Quality’s blazing trip yesterday sent them to the top of the leaderboard in the $37,800 Upperville FEI CSI 4* Speed Stake at the 170th Upperville Colt & Horse Show presented by MARS Equestrian™. Hallie Grimes and Karoline of Ballmore, owned by Can We Keep It? LLC finished second while Conor O’Regan ended the class in third place aboard Manchester, the entry of Delshore Horses, LLC.

The lead changed multiple times until Coyle and Laisaniska Cool Quality laid down a time of 57.49 seconds. None of the 18 horse and rider combinations that followed could catch him.

“I’ve had him a long time,” Coyle said of the ten-year-old Irish Sport Horse. “He was great today.”

Nick Granat’s course presented its challenges, with only eight of 26 entries jumping clear.

“Jump one to two was a tight enough turn and the inside turn to nine was quite tight to a big oxer,” Coyle explained. “I needed the line to come up or it would have been a very big oxer.”

He continued, “Luckily, it came up for me and the rest was hoping you don’t knock the jumps down.”
