UPPERVILLE, Va., May 7, 2025 – The 2025 Upperville Colt & Horse Show presented by MARS EQUESTRIAN™ is the oldest horse show in the U.S. and will celebrate its 172nd year June 2-8. The show runs daily from 8 a.m. until sunset and admission and parking are free.

One of the show’s (many) best kept secrets is the fact that it is a shopping destination. Almost overnight, the horse show grounds transform into one of the largest, unique shopping experiences in Northern Virginia with more than 85 vendors selling everything from jewelry, clothing, hats, tack and horse items, gifts, home goods, pet supplies, artwork, food and coffee and a variety of services.

“Each year, we’ve essentially created a mini shopping mall in the fields of Upperville, Virginia,” said Emily Day, executive director of the Upperville Horse Show. “This year, we have the largest number of vendors ever. For one week, attendees will be able to find unique gifts; home goods; artwork; clothing, including equestrian-and sporting-style clothes from England, Ireland and other boutiques; equestrian items including custom and off-the-shelf riding boots, helmets, jackets, gloves, grooming supplies, feed and supplements, and more; a number of custom barn builders/construction companies will be on site, along with pet boutiques, dog trainers, schools and colleges offering riding programs, and some area therapeutic equestrian programs. It’s a shopping mecca!”

Some of the many top vendors include Lugano Diamonds, Dubarry USA, Fairfax & Favor, Tom Beckbe, Equestrian Chic Boutique, Acacia House Designs, Tri County Feeds and Fashions, B&D Builders, Tilley’s Pet Supplies, Vogel NYC, Agriteer, Savenac 1821, Karina Brez and more. A full list is available here.

In addition to great shopping, the Upperville Horse Show also features great food options including Copper Fox Coffee, Everything About Crepes, Happy Family Ranch, Harry’s Lemonade, Haulin’ Butts BBQ, Hunt Country Charcuterie, Jump Start Café, King of Pops, Phils Grill, Snowflakes & Co., Wayne’s Delicious Eats and more.

While shopping and eating, attendees can also catch amazing equestrians on horses and ponies, competing in various disciplines in multiple rings all week. From tiny tots in leadline classes to the family class, a therapeutic equine celebration; hunter, sidesaddle and conformation competitions, to watching some of the nation’s top showjumping equestrians competing over challenging courses at amazing heights, there’s something for everyone. There is even an invitational car show on Sunday, for antique and muscle car enthusiasts. More than 1200 pairs of horses and riders will compete throughout the week.

The show culminates on June 8 at 2 p.m. with the excitement of the $200,000 Upperville Jumper Classic CSI4* featuring top world-class equestrians. The day’s entertainment includes junior and amateur riders, pony conformation (including pony foals!) and the Horses & Horsepower car show. Attendees are encouraged to come early to take advantage of shopping on this day as well as all week long.

Founded in 1853 as a one-day show to encourage better breeding and care of horses, the show has grown to a weeklong tradition with thousands of equestrian and equine pairs competing in a variety of competitive disciplines. Many of the continent’s top professional riders as well as amateurs compete under the spectacular setting featuring the famous oaks at Grafton Farm—the same location since 1853.

The show encourages families to come out. There’s plenty of room for children to roam. Dogs are allowed and must be leashed, vaccinated and under owner’s control at all times. A Pup Parade on Saturday features junior dog lovers parading their furry friends around the main hunter ring. All kids 12 and under are welcome, and they can bring a chaperone to help as needed.

Sponsors of the 2025 Upperville Colt & Horse Show include presenting sponsor MARS EQUESTRIAN, Ethel M. Chocolates, Koons Motors, Michael and Wendy Smith, Lugano Diamonds, The Salamander Collection, B&D Builders, Markel Insurance, and Delta Air Lines.
